Members of the NJ Statewide Network for Cultural Competence (The Network) seek to grow and share in the knowledge and skills necessary to serve people from diverse populations and communities. We achieve this goal by bringing together subject matter experts to discuss best practices, and by providing educational and informational sessions for all stakeholders, including government, public, private, not-for-profit, community-based audiences, families and people with lived experiences. We strive to create an environment of mutual respect, caring, inclusiveness and belonging.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

We provide opportunities for people to meet and interact with one another through our quarterly meetings, where we learn about promising practices in cultural and linguistic competency and have roundtable discussions of the latest developments in specific fields; through our webinars, where experts in the field share their experience and insights; and through our annual conference, which brings together people interested in examining timely and cutting edge topics in greater depth.

On our website, we have assembled a collection of resources and links that may prove useful to you in your effort to achieve greater inclusiveness in your work.  The Network enlisted the help of subject matter experts in selecting these resources, which are broken down by sectors and topics of interest. Some of the resources address the challenge of achieving cultural and linguistic competency in the delivery of services. Others deal more broadly with diversity and equity issues. We also make it a practice of uploading to the website recordings of webinars and conferences that we have organized over the years. Our goal is to create a one-stop source of information and guidance on diversity-related issues.
