Upper Deerfield Township, N.J. - The New Jersey State Police have arrested Amir Cook, 19, of Bridgeton City, N.J., and Dashon Harris, 28, and Ketara Malloy, 18, both of New Castle, DE, for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a man at gunpoint in Upper Deerfield Township, Cumberland County.
On Friday, December 20, at approximately 7:04 p.m., troopers responded to the report of an armed robbery at a Wawa on State Highway 77 in Bridgeton City. The victim alleged that he was robbed at gunpoint by two masked suspects at his residence and forced to drive to the Wawa to withdraw cash from the ATM.
The victim told troopers he was leaving his residence with Ketara Malloy earlier in the evening when two masked suspects approached him and brandished handguns. The suspects directed Malloy to leave and demanded money from victim. After handing the suspects cash, the victim was forced back into his residence where the suspects demanded more money. The suspects then made the victim drive to the Wawa at gunpoint.
Once they arrived at the Wawa, the victim, along with one of the suspects, entered and made a cash withdrawal from the ATM. While returning to his vehicle with the suspect, the victim escaped and re-entered the Wawa to call 9-1-1. The suspects then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, which was later recovered in Bridgeton City.
During the investigation, detectives from the Troop “A” Criminal Investigation Office used various investigative means to establish evidence linking Cook, Harris, and Malloy to the robbery. Detectives allege that Malloy conspired with Cook and Harris to target the victim and plan the robbery. As a result, troopers issued warrants for the arrest of all three suspects.
On Wednesday, December 25, 2019, Amir Cook was arrested by the Bridgeton City Police Department during a traffic stop and transferred to the custody of the State Police. He was charged with robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy, possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, burglary, and theft. He was lodged at the Cumberland County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.
On Tuesday, January 21, Ketara Malloy turned herself in to troopers at Bridgeton Station, where she was arrested and charged with robbery and conspiracy. She was lodged at the Cumberland County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.
On Wednesday, January 22, detectives from the Bridgeton Station Criminal Investigation Office and Fugitive Unit, along with members of the United State Marshals Task Force located and arrested Dashon Harris at a residence in Bridgeton. He was charged with robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy, possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, burglary, and theft. He was lodged at the Cumberland County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.
Charges are mere accusations and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
