State Police & Law Enforcement Partners Arrest 17 Fugitives,
Including Individuals Wanted for Violent Crimes in Atlantic
County

Atlantic City, N.J. - The New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit coordinated a two-day cooperative mobile deployment that led to the arrest of 17 fugitives in Atlantic County. This deployment is part of a comprehensive initiative to reduce violent crime statewide.

Detectives from the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit, K-9 South Unit, Casino Gaming Bureau, Violent & Organized Crime Control South Bureau, Real Time Crime Center South Unit, and Gangs & Organized Crime Central Unit, along with members of the United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, the New Jersey Department of Corrections Special Operations Group, Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, and the Atlantic City Police Department conducted a two day Mobile Deployment Initiative (MDI) in the Atlantic County area.

The targets for the operation were identified through various investigative means including street-level intelligence, patrol advisories, and information provided by the various units within the New Jersey State Police’s Intelligence Section, Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, Atlantic City Police Department, Egg Harbor Township Police Department, Monroe Township Police Department, and an analysis of current crime trends in Atlantic City, provided by the Real Time Crime Center South Unit.

From Thursday, June 23, to Friday, June 24, a total of 17 fugitives wanted by state, county, and local law enforcement agencies were apprehended at various locations in Atlantic County.

Those arrested were wanted for crimes including weapons/firearms offenses, forgery, aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, and various drug offenses. During the two-day initiative, all suspects were lodged at Atlantic County Jail.

"As a result of this coordinated, multi-agency effort, 17 fugitives are now in custody and Atlantic County communities are safer for it," said Acting Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin. “This sweep and arrest of wanted criminals is another great example of how law enforcement agencies in New Jersey are working together to reduce violent crime and protect our residents.”

“The New Jersey State Police, along with our law enforcement partners are working relentlessly in an effort to keep our communities safe,” said Colonel Patrick J. Callahan, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. “We will continue our efforts to take violent offenders from the streets of New Jersey.”

Charges are mere accusations, and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
