CHILDREN TAKE COMMAND OF STATE POLICE FOR THE DAY

West Trenton, NJ - Colonel Rick Fuentes, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, announced today that State Police employees will participate in the annual "Take Our Children to Work Day" on Thursday, April 22nd.

Interactive activities such as State Police K-9 Unit and their canine partners, a demonstration by the newly formed Motorcycle Unit and T.E.A.M.S. (Technical Emergency & Mission Specialists) unit members repelling from a building are just a few of the events scheduled to take place between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Division Headquarters in West Trenton.

The State Police "Take Our Children to Work Day" will be the most challenging and hands-on of all the experiences offered statewide. The event is designed to afford children between the ages of 9 and 15 an opportunity to experience a day on the job with a parent or sponsor. This will enable all participants to observe first hand the contributions of women and men in the workplace.

As part of the daylong State Police program, the "future employees" will participate directly in New Jersey's high-tech fight against crime. The troopers of tomorrow will be exposed to everything from bomb sniffing dogs, to high-tech computers, to new streamlined "Stealth Cars" and more. Professional staff and troopers will take time to talk about the role of women and men in law enforcement, career selection, and the varied opportunities available within the State Police family.

The State Police Museum and Learning Center, along with Wilburtha Station and the entire State Police facility will be open to special tours.

Members of the press (and their children of course) are encouraged to attend.
