Task Force Captures One of NJ's
12 Most Wanted Fugitives

Coamo, Puerto Rico - One of New Jersey’s 12 Most Wanted was arrested this morning in a rural area of Puerto Rico by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force. Angel Rosado, 34, a ranking member of the Latin Kings Street Gang was picked up at 4:25 a.m. by a team including two New Jersey State Police detectives, an investigator with the Division of Criminal Justice, U.S. Marshal’s agents and a tactical team from the Puerto Rico Police.

Rosado, a former resident of Newark, N.J., has been a wanted person since warrants were issued in Mercer County in October of 2002. His crimes include attempted murder, weapons offenses, witness tampering, terroristic threats and kidnapping.

After an extensive investigation, the team located Rosado and converged on his residence in Puerto Rico where he was arrested without incident. He now faces extradition proceedings that will eventually bring him back to New Jersey to face his criminal charges. In addition, the U.S. Attorney’s Office filed federal fugitive charges against Rosado.

"This is a great example of seamless law enforcement cooperation in New Jersey. This arrest shows that we are unified in going after the worst of the worst to make this state safer for everyone," said James Plousis, the U.S. Marshal for the District of New Jersey.

"We have a very long memory for those who commit crimes in New Jersey," said Colonel Rick Fuentes, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. "Having our troopers work directly with the U.S. Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force means criminals have no place in the entire country to safely hide," he added.
