Two Dead in Laurel Lakes:
Possible Murder/Suicide

Commercial Township, N.J. - The New Jersey State Police and the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a possible murder/suicide that was discovered Wednesday evening in the Laurel Lakes section of the township.

Scott Rector, 30 and Stacy Rector, 28, were found in the bedroom of their trailer on Samuel Drive by a co-worker employee who came to check on Scott, who had not shown up for work since last week.

Scott and Stacy Rector and their two dogs were found dead in bed, each appearing to have died from gunshot wounds. A suicide note was present and detectives found a semi-automatic handgun. Investigators are waiting for medical autopsy reports to make final determinations as to who caused this tragic event and why.

State Police Major Crimes, Crime Scene Investigations and Troop A detectives investigated the deaths, in cooperation with the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.
