Troopers Arrest Roselle Park Man and Seize Over $684,000 in Counterfeit Apple Products and Other Counterfeit Electronic Components

Roselle Park, NJ - State Police detectives from the Cargo Theft Unit have arrested a Roselle Park man and recovered more than 8,000 counterfeited electronics components valued at $684,620 during the execution of a search warrant.

In September of this year, Apple Inc. notified the New Jersey State Police that counterfeit Apple product components were being sold illegally from bodegas in Union City, N.J., and on the website www.muchbuy.com. During the course of this investigation, detectives made purchases of counterfeit electronic components being sold as legitimate Apple products.

As a result of the investigation, a court authorized search warrant was executed at a warehouse located at 174 West Westfield Avenue, rented by MuchBuy Incorporated. Troopers and detectives from the Union City Police Department seized counterfeit electronic components falsely bearing the trademarks of Apple, Dell, Microsoft, Sony, Blackberry, and HTC.

The owner of MuchBuy Inc, Mark Lin, 34, of Roselle Park, was arrested yesterday at the warehouse and charged with Possession of Trademark Counterfeiting Merchandise. He was released pending a court appearance.

The identification of the counterfeit Apple products was made by Allegiance Protection on behalf of Apple. Representatives from Dell, Microsoft, Sony, Blackberry, and HTC will also identify the counterfeit products bearing their trademark.

The investigation is being prosecuted by the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice.

Charges are merely accusations and the suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty.
