NEWARK – The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs has proposed to readopt regulations regarding the licensing and regulation of public movers and/or warehousemen.
The regulations governing the licensing and regulation of public movers and/or warehousemen are set to expire on November 30, 2017. The Director has reviewed the regulations and has determined that they are necessary, reasonable, understandable, and responsive to the purpose for which they were originally promulgated. Proposed amendments to the regulations would delete a requirement that licensed public movers and/or warehousemen display Division-issued decals. The proposed amendments would raise the amount that public movers and/or warehousemen may limit liability for loss of a customer’s goods from sixty cents per pound to one dollar per pound.
The proposed regulation, and information on how to submit a comment by June 30, 2017, can be viewed here.
