NEWARK – Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino and the Division of Consumer Affairs today announced that a Bergen County nurse has been temporarily suspended from practice after he was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault on a physically helpless and mentally incapacitated person.

Radcliffe R. Rose, 51, of Maywood, also agreed to the temporary suspension of his NJ registration as a Pharmacy Technician, which is currently expired. Under the terms of an Interim Consent Order he signed with the State Board of Nursing and the State Board of Pharmacy (“the Boards”), Rose’s licenses will remain temporarily suspended pending the resolution of the criminal charge against him and pending further action by the Boards.
Rose is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with the alleged victim in Wyckoff. He was arrested on May 11, following a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wyckoff Police Department. Rose has been detained in the Bergen County Jail since his arrest.

“Nurses are trusted to provide care for the sick and the vulnerable, not use them to satisfy their own depraved sexual desires,” said Attorney General Porrino. “If these allegations are true, Nurse Rose represents a clear and imminent danger to the public. We could not allow him to continue practicing while these charges are pending.”

“Protecting the public is paramount to our licensing boards,” said Steve Lee, Director of Consumer Affairs. “Given the nature of the allegations against Nurse Rose, the Boards took appropriate action in temporarily suspending him from practice until this very serious criminal matter is resolved.”

Deputy Attorney General Barbara J.K. Lopez, of the Consumer Affairs Counseling Section within the Division of Law, is representing the State in this action.

Patients who believe that they have been treated by a licensed health care professional in an inappropriate manner can file an online complaint with the State Division of Consumer Affairs by visiting its website or by calling 1-800-242-5846 (toll free within New Jersey) or (973) 504- 6200.
