NEWARK – The State Board of Medical Examiners has proposed amendments to its regulations regarding the practice of licensed midwives.
N.J.A.C. 13:35-2A.9 and 2A.11 set forth a list of risk factors for pregnant women that trigger specific procedures licensed midwives must follow. The Board of Medical Examiners proposes to amend these regulations to reflect current practice standards for midwifery. The proposal also implements P.L. 2017, c. 28, which imposes opioid drug education requirements on licensed nurse midwives seeking prescriptive authority.
The proposed amendments, and information on how to submit a comment by August 3, 2018, can be viewed here.
