TRENTON – Responding to a lawsuit from Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal that seeks to prevent Defense Distributed and founder Cody Wilson from publicly releasing printable gun computer files under New Jersey state law, today Cody Wilson committed to not publish any new printable gun codes nationwide until a court hearing in September. In light of that concession, a New Jersey court ordered that until a court hearing in September “Defendants have agreed that they will not upload any additional files” on their websites. At the same time, the Court’s order also confirms that access to the websites will be blocked for all NJ IP addresses and mobile devices until that hearing.

“Today is a big victory for public safety and law enforcement safety,” said Attorney General Grewal. “I was proud to stand up to Cody Wilson and Defense Distributed, and to make clear that their plans to share printable gun codes with everyone – including terrorists, criminals, and juveniles – was a threat to all our residents. Now that Cody Wilson is stepping back from publication, the court is going to hold him to his promise not to post any new files until September. The fight continues, but we can all breathe easier knowing that Defense Distributed cannot share more of these dangerous codes while we challenge them in court.”
