NEW JERSEY STATE POLICE PRESS
FOR I.D. IN SUSPICIOUS DEATH
Body Of Unidentified Male Found In Field In North Hanover Township
Ft. Dix Detectives Ask Public For Assistance
North Hanover Township
- New Jersey State Police detectives assigned to the Fort Dix Station
in Burlington County today asked the public for help in identifying
the remains of an unknown male whose body was discovered in a soy
bean field off Rahilly Road in North Hanover Township, Burlington
County, this past weekend.
According to State Police
Det. I Bryant C. Hoar, assigned to the Troop "C" Ft. Dix
Station, the body was discovered by a local farmer on Sat., Oct.
20 and reported to the North Hanover Township Police Department
and to the Ft. Dix State Police Station at approximately 2:00 p.m.
Troopers and detectives from the Ft. Dix station, the North Hanover
Township Police Department, along with representatives from the
Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and the Medical Examiner's
Office, responded to the scene.
Initial on-scene investigation
by State Police detectives determined that the body was lying at
the base of a steel tower supporting high tension electric wires
near the Rahilly Road soy bean field. The unidentified male appears
to be between 25-35 years of age. The male is 6'2" in height,
weighing approximately 230 lbs. The deceased had short black hair
and sported a one-inch goatee-style beard and no moustache.
The deceased was wearing
purple/red NIKE basketball-type shorts, a gray cotton NIKE T-shirt
with the word "BASEBALL" embroidered on the front chest
area of the shirt, and brown NIKE three-quarter high hiking boot/sneakers.
The deceased was not wearing any socks and had no identification,
no jewelry and no identifying marks, tattoos or body piercings.
An autopsy of the deceased
was be performed by the Burlington County Medical Examiners Office
on Oct. 21. The specific manner of death remains under investigation.
However it appears that the remains were at the scene for two or
three days prior to discovery and that the cause of death is consistent
with injuries sustained in a fall from the tower.
The New Jersey State Police,
along with the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, urge anyone
with information about the case or information that might aid in
identifying the deceased to contact Det. I Bryant Hoar at the Ft.
Dix Station Criminal Investigation Office (609) 723-7122. Any information
that aids the investigation will remain confidential.
