Troopers Seize $800,000 of Drugs
During Truck Inspection
Greenwich Township, Warren County, N.J. - Troopers inspecting a tractor-trailer on Tuesday arrested a Texas man
and seized 64 pounds of marijuana and 20 kilos of cocaine with a street value of approximately $800,000.
While patrolling I-78 in Greenwich Township, Sgt. Ron Mistretta stopped a black Kenworth tractor-trailer for a commercial
vehicle inspection. During the inspection, Sgt. Mistretta found the drugs hidden in the ceiling and behind the wall of the
sleeper berth of the truck. The driver, Andres Garcia, 34, of San Benito, Texas, was placed under arrest.
Garcia was charged with:
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of cocaine
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
- Possession of cocaine with intent to distribute
Andres Garcia was lodged in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $250,000 full cash bail.
The tractor was seized pending forfeiture proceedings by the State Police. The trailer was filled with
produce, and will be delivered to a location in East Rutherford later today.
Charges are mere accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
