TROOPER AND PARSIPPANY OFFICERS
THWART APPARENT SUICIDE ATTEMPT
Parsippany - Trooper Felix Bermudez responding to a call of an individual suspended over
an Interstate 80 overpass fence in Parsippany was thrust into immediate action.
The harrowing incident occurred on Interstate 80 eastbound, Parsippany at the Exit 45 overpass. Parsippany Police were attempting to negotiate with William J. Riley, 39, Parsippany, when Riley let go of the fence. Trooper Bermudez was able to grab the falling man and with the assistance of Parsippany officers pull him to safety. .
Bermudez was transported by Parsippany EMS to St. Clare’s
Hospital and treated for lacerations to his right hand. Trooper Bermudez is stationed
at the Totowa State Police Barracks. Bermudez has been a Trooper
for three years.
Riley was transported to St. Clare's for evaluation.
