Troopers Seize 35 Pounds of Marijuana During Motor Vehicle Stop
Paterson, Passaic County, N.J. – On September 29th, a motor vehicle stop by troopers led to the arrest of a Far Rockaway, NY man, and the
seizure of 35 pounds of marijuana.
While on patrol on I-80 in Paterson, Trooper Steven Spitaleri stopped a Gray Kia Rio for failure to maintain a lane. During the motor vehicle stop,
assisting Trooper Cormac Joyce noticed a small amount of marijuana on the driver’s side floor area. The driver, Ronald Patroni, 48, of Far Rockaway, NY
was immediately placed under arrest.
A court authorized search warrant for Patroni’s Kia led to the discovery of 35 pounds of marijuana located in the trunk of his car.
Patroni was charged with:
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
- Motor vehicle summonses
Patroni was lodged in the Passaic County Jail in lieu of 250,000 full cash bail.
The charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
