N.J. Ratepayer Advocate Seema Singh Releases Spanish Version of Consumer Conservation Handbook –Manual Sobre Conservacion para el Consumidor
Newark, N.J.—New Jersey Ratepayer Advocate Seema M. Singh today announced the
publication of the Spanish-language version of the Consumer Conservation Handbook:
Manual Sobre Conservacion para el Consumidor.
The handbook provides easy-to-use, room-by-room energy and water conservation
tips that can be used inside and outside the home in winter and summer. The
conservation tips can help consumers save on their utility bills.
“We are very pleased to expand the availability of the conservation handbook
to reach Spanish-speaking consumers throughout the state,” said Singh. “The
more of these conservation tips that consumers can adopt, the more they will
save on their utility bills and protect the environment.”
The book features chapters on: how to read and understand your utility bill,
how to read your electric and gas meter, natural gas tips, water conservation
tips, caulking and weather stripping, conducting a home energy audit and heating
and cooling tips. There is also a chapter on the New Jersey Clean Energy Program
and how to shop for energy-efficient products. The Manual Sobre Conservacion
para el Consumidor is available by calling 973-648-2690 or by request from the
website at www.rpa.state.nj.us.
In addition to the latest version of the conservation handbook, the Division
of the Ratepayer Advocate also offers a Spanish-language brochure that describes
the services and publications offered by the Ratepayer Advocate. One popular
Ratepayer Advocate service listed is the free consumer education presentation
on energy conservation. If you would like to schedule a consumer presentation
for your organization on this topic or other energy, water or telecommunications
topics, please contact Ratepayer Advocate Chief of Staff Kimberly Holmes at
973-648-2690.
The Division of the Ratepayer Advocate is an independent state agency that
represents the interests of consumers of electric, natural gas, water/sewer
and telecommunications and cable TV service. It serves as an active participant
in every proceeding whenever New Jersey companies seek changes in rates or services.
The Ratepayer Advocate also gives consumers a voice in setting long-range energy,
water, and telecommunications policy that will affect the delivery of services
well into the future. Additional information on this and other matters can be
found at the Division of Ratepayer Advocate’s website at http://www.rpa.state.nj.us
