Scout Days
Scouting Astronomy / Scouting Geology

The New Jersey State Museum will offer Scouting Astronomy & Geology on Saturday, May 11, 2019 and Scouting Archaeology & Astronomy on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

During Scouting Geology and Archaeology sessions, you learn about the earth and the history of its human inhabitants from the Museum’s geologists, paleontologists, and archaeologists and find out what these professionals do. Museum staff will be on hand to guide you through the State Museum’s collection of specimens, tools and maps. Don’t forget to bring your own collections if required for your badge.

In Scouting Astronomy, you will explore the constellations and how to find them in different seasons, as well as learn to use the Big Dipper to pinpoint the North Star. You will also learn to read star maps and locate stars of different colors.

Participation will assist you in fulfilling many of the requirements for badges and other programs in Scouting.

Space is limited and advance reservations are required. Cash payments cannot be accepted.

For more information, please call (609) 292-8594 or (609)984-3846, weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
