The New Jersey State Museum will present SCOUTING ASTRONOMY & SCOUTING GEOLOGY on Saturday, May 12, 2018 and SCOUTING ARCHAEOLOGY & SCOUTING ASTRONOMY on October 20, 2018.

During Scouting Geology and Archaeology sessions, you learn about the earth and the history of its human inhabitants from the Museum’s geologists, paleontologists and archaeologists and find out what these professionals do.  Museum staff will be on hand to guide you through the State Museum’s collection of specimens, tools and maps.  Don’t forget to bring your own collections if required for your badge.

In Scouting Astronomy, you will explore the constellations and how to find them in different seasons, as well as learn to use the Big Dipper to pinpoint the North Star.  You will also learn to read star maps and to locate stars of different colors.

Participation will assist you in fulfilling many of the requirements for badges and other programs in Scouting.  It is not necessary to be a Scout to enroll in a program. Each program costs $6.00 per person.

Advance reservations and payment are necessary, cash payments can’t be accepted. Please use the attached reservation form. For more information on the programs call (609)292-8594 or (609)292-6303, weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
