NJDOT announces lane closures on Route 13 Lovelandtown Bridge
in Point Pleasant Borough
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation today announced the start of single-lane closures on the movable Lovelandtown Bridge on the unsigned Route 13 in Point Pleasant Borough for maintenance repairs to the operating system.
NJDOT has closed the right travel lane on Route 13 eastbound through the end of the week, with the lane reopening on Friday, April 15.
On Monday, April 18, NJDOT is scheduled to close the right travel lane on Route 13 westbound for approximately 11 days, with the lane reopening to traffic on Friday, April 29.
One travel lane will be maintained in each direction on Route 13 at all times.
The traffic impacts are being closely coordinated with the continuing construction on the nearby Route 88 Bridge over the Point Pleasant Canal.
New Jersey Route 13 is a half-mile, state-maintained portion of existing Ocean County Route 632 (Bridge Avenue) that begins just west of Hollywood Avenue in Point Pleasant Borough, spans the Point Pleasant Canal and returns to CR 632 east of Bay Avenue (CR 604) in Bay Head Borough.
The Point Pleasant Canal is a part of the Intracoastal Waterway, a protected 1,500-mile inland water highway that runs from Maine to Florida. The United States Coast Guard requires that NJDOT open the bridge ‘on demand’ for any approaching vessel.
