lane closures to resume on Route
30
Absecon Boulevard Bridge work continues in Atlantic City
(Trenton) - The
New Jersey Department of Transportation
will resume work requiring lane closures
on Route 30 as the project to repair
the Route 30/Absecon Boulevard Bridge
over Beach Thorofare in Atlantic City,
Atlantic County progresses.
Temporary single and double-lane
closures will resume over the Route
30 bridge starting Friday, September
16. Double lane closures will be
restricted to nighttime only. Eastbound
traffic will be reduced to one
lane from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday
through Sunday when required. Westbound
traffic will be reduced to one
lane from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday
through Sunday when required.
The boat channel will remain open
for all boats not requiring a bridge
opening. For boats requiring a
bridge opening, the U.S. Coast
Guard will redirect the waterway
traffic to another channel.
The $6 million project, which
began construction in April, also
includes updating mechanical and
electrical systems to the bascule
span bridge, reinforcing the retaining
walls and painting. Completion
is scheduled for March 2012.
