The DCF Office of Education provides educational programs and services for eligible students in DCF/DHS state-operated and contracted facilities and Regional Schools that promote learning, so students can acquire basic educational, communication, social, life and/or workplace readiness skills. School staff utilize traditional or alternative learning experiences, provided in accordance with educational statutes and regulations. They recognize that all individuals served are capable of growth and maturation, and access to education is a fundamental right. The OOE Schools prepare students to lead independent and constructive lives commensurate with their abilities and interests and recognize the inherent dignity and worth of each individual. The student population consists of students with exceptional needs, at-risk students or students who are pregnant and parenting. A successful return to school and participation in community life are primary goals for all OOE students.
