- Understanding U.S. Domestic Medical Screening for Refugees and Other Newcomers - Switchboard (switchboardta.org) Refugees receive an immigration medical exam before they arrive in the United States. They must also complete a medical screening after arrival. This screening is a medical examination that is different from a routine primary care visit. You will be responsible for making sure the refugee(s) completes this screening. Since the screening can sometimes take up to 2-3 visits to complete, sponsors should help refugees get their screening within 30 days upon arrival.
Individuals and groups can also sponsor Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolees and Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan and Venezuelan (CHNV) Supporter-Based Parolees through Welcome.US. Learn more at https://welcome.us/.
