iRUN NEW JERSEY
In conjunction with the State of New Jersey’s 350th Anniversary and beyond, iRun NEW JERSEY is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of New Jersey’s historic sites through the development and execution of a series of events. iRun NEW JERSEY has partnered with the NJ State Park Service to sponsor a 5k run on the morning of this year’s State History Fair. iRun is also coordinating the Fair’s Food Truck Festival and the NJ 63rd Army Band concert and is sponsoring a tent for NJ authors participating in the Fair’s MarketPlace. iRun NEW JERSEY’s focus is on having fun and promoting the health and wellness of the citizens of NJ through its running events. iRUN wants its participants and their guests to walk (or run) away having experienced a unique, educational and memorable experience in locations throughout the State of New Jersey that showcase its heritage and beauty.
The Culinary Education Center of Monmouth County
In honor of the Fair’s 10th Anniversary and the State’s 350th, the Center has generously offered to create a cake in the shape of New Jersey and decorate it with various iconic figures of the Garden State. The Culinary Education Center of Monmouth County is a
collaborative effort between Brookdale Community College and the Monmouth County Vocational School District. The Culinary Education Center College Division offers an Associate of Science in Applied Science in Culinary Arts. The CEC also offers two Certificate programs, one in Pastry Art and the other in Culinary Arts. The CEC is a student centered culinary program, which is dedicated to providing a high quality culinary educational experience.
The D&R Canal Watch has generously offered to sponsor Mr. Roy Justice at this year’s Fair. Mr. Justice has been exploring American history through music & storytelling for over 30 years! He has recorded & released 3 CDs of canal & Americana songs. He is a 1976 Graduate of Mansfield University (Mansfield, PA) where he earned his B.A. Degree in Music. The Watch is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect, maintain & promote the recreational, historical, aesthetic & environmental qualities of the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park & its environs. It assists & supports regional, state, local & private enterprise efforts which contribute to this goal & investigates the restoration of the canal to through navigation. Since its inception in 1989, the Canal Watch has donated many volunteer hours & annually raises several thousand dollars for park equipment & supplies.
North Jersey Highlands Historical Society has generously agreed to once again sponsor Mr. Jack Sherry as Benjamin Franklin. The Society (NJHHS), founded in 1958, is dedicated to collecting & communicating the history of the Northeastern Highlands Region from prehistoric Native American to the present. They have a special interest in historic iron-making & the history associated with Ringwood Manor State Park - its industries, events & people.
The Swan Historical Foundation, Inc. (Princeton) - is a not-for-profit organization whose aim is to educate about the American Revolution. The Foundation's superb collection of artifacts currently can be viewed in the Visitor’s Center at Washington Crossing State Park. The Foundation is providing assistance with operations at this year’s SPIRIT of the JERSEYS.
The Trenton Historical Society has generously agreed to sponsor The Long Hill String Band. The Band plays old time American music on mandolin, guitar, dulcimer, violin, bass and banjo. The Society is a NJ non-profit corporation with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status. Its mission is the study and interpretation of Trenton’s history, preservation of its historic buildings and artifacts, and dissemination of information about New Jersey’s capital city and its illustrious past.
Walt Whitman Association was originally founded as a group of Whitman friends and supportersduring the author’s life in Camden. The Walt Whitman Association is the oldest existing Whitman society in the world. Its mission is to support the preservation of his home in Camden and to promote the life works and legacy of America’s “Great Poet of Democracy”. The Association continues its support of the NJ State History Fair by sponsoring Mr. Darrel Blaine Ford as Walt Whitman.
