2023 -2024 New Jersey State FFA Executive Board

State President - Chase Sherburne

Chase currently attends Salem Community College.  He plans to transfer to Penns State to study Agricultural Education so that he can become an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor. He served as chapter parliamentarian and chapter secretary for the Salem Tech FFA Chapter and recently served as the State FFA Secretary. He was on the state winning Nursery/Landscape team twice and competed on the national level for the Agricultural Issues Forum LDE. His SAE consists of landscaping as well as shadowing his FFA advisor Mrs. DiTizio to gain knowledge on the career of an agricultural educator.  He loves spending time with friends, listening to all types of music, watching movies and bowling.  When asked why he wishes to serve as a state FFA officer, Chase says, “I hope to meet and make an impact on even more memberships year, and I will strive to be the great officer I know I can be.”

State Vice President - Maisie Shimko

Maisie currently attends Union County Technical School and will attend Kean University in the fall.  Maisie has aspirations of becoming a plant geneticist Maisie served as chapter president and chapter historian for the Union County FFA Chapter. Maisie has competed in Land Judging, Farm & Agribusiness Management, Creed Speaking, 3-5 minute Preparede Public Speaking, and recently won Plant Systems Division 5 of the State Agriscience Fair.  Maisie's SAE included working at the school's greenhous and garden.  Maisie enjoys crocheting and sewing as well as gardening.  When asked why they wish to serve as a state FFA officer, Maisie says, “I want to make FFA a place where everyone can discover their passion and feel included regardless of their background.”

State Secretary - Julia Moreno

Julia will attend Delaware Valley University in the fall to study Equine Business Management.  She served as chapter president and chapter vice president for the Cumberland Regional FFA Chapter. She was on the state winning Horse Evaluation team this year and competed Floriculture, Livestock Evaluation, Milk Quality & Products, Farm & Agribusiness Management and Veterinary Science CDEs. Her SAE consists of working at Glenella Dairy Farm, egg production, and horse care.  She loves riding her horses, riding 4-wheelers and spending time with family.  When asked why she wishes to serve as a state FFA officer, Julia says, “I love helping and inspiring all and I feel like I can bring good ideas to the table.”

State Executive Committee Chair - Jonathan Finney
 
Jon recently graduated from Salem Community College and will be attending Stockton Unviersity in the Fall. He recently served as State FFA President.  His greatest passion in agriculture is raising and caring for ornamental plants, which is reflected by his Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). For his SAE, Jon works on a nursery and is responsible for weed control, tilling the ground, propagation, filling customer orders, and organizing the nursery stock.   He has participated in many CDEs including Meat Evaluation & Technology, Farm and Agricultural Business Management, Nursery/Landscape, and Agricultural Technology & Mechanical Systems.
