TO THE TEACHER:
The New Jersey State FFA Activity Guide is a compilation of all state events and activities available to the FFA members and chapters in New Jersey. It is organized in a manner that follows a typical calendar of events for the year. The guide contains general information about events, rules for state events, event forms and score cards, and New Jersey application forms for all possible events. Any of these forms or applications may be duplicated for judging practice or for submission to the State FFA Office. The guide was constructed with a numerical coding system for each major topic. Subtopics, or forms, are grouped under each major topic. For instance, the Fall Judging Career Development Event is coded 7.000. Information pertaining to the Fall Events as in the Turf Management Event is coded 7.001. This was done so that when a revised list is completed, it will also contain the same code and may be replaced with the updated form. The State Activity Guide was constructed to gain consistency among all chapters in the state. With this consistency, all New Jersey FFA members have the same opportunities. All advisors will have all application forms for their students. No "one" member or chapter has an advantage over another. Newly chartered chapters will receive the guide, allowing their students to be aware of activities that well-established chapters participate in each year. The original guide was designed in 1983 as part of my course work in the Agriculture Education Degree Program, Graduate School of Education, Rutgers University. Original duplication of this guide was made possible by the Pre/In-service grant funded by the Division of Vocational Education, New Jersey Department of Education, Trenton. The H.O. Sampson Collegiate FFA Chapter and the 1983-84 State FFA Officers assisted in duplicating pages, collating and distributing the guide. Today guides are only available online.
