Visit
the Agriculture Education Center and Farm Museum
In 2000, Happy Hollow Farms initiated a program to off students
in grades K-4 hands-on experience on agricultural topics ranging
from grains and grasses to Holsteins and hogs. Visit the Grain
and Hay Center, where students can view bins of grain from
soybean to wheat and learn their life cycle from seed to harvest.
At the Agricultural Education Center, a wide variety of livestock
will be on display. Learn the various animal husbandry practices
for dairy and beef, egg-laying poultry, meat production poultry
(broilers), and swine. Happy Hollow's 'mock-up' dairy milking
parlor will give the students an up-close look at how to milk
a cow, as well as a visual display for a large-scale, ultra-modern
dairy operation. During the educational hayride, students
will learn about Morris Canal that traverses through the farm
and see the various cultivation practices for corn, wheat,
soybean, pumpkins, strawberries and hay. Maybe the hayride
will stop for some strawberry or pumpkin picking, so students
can learn more details regarding the agricultural practices
used to cultivate these crops. If you want to know which hand-held
farm implements were used in the last century, then visit
their Farm Museum. In contrast, students can view modern farm
equipment during the walking tour of the farm. Finally, take
time to enjoy the farm atmosphere as you enjoy a picnic at
the farm.
