Fall 2020 Trout Stocking Schedule

2020 Updates

A total of approximately 27,000 two-year old Rainbow Trout, averaging 14-16 inches were stocked in 17 streams and 23 ponds and lakes. This compares to on an average year stocking approximately 21,000 two-year old Rainbow Trout, averaging 14-16 inches in 17 streams and 21 ponds and lakes over the same two-week period. All trout are raised at the Pequest Trout Hatchery.

In addition to these trout, up to 1,000 broodstock trout (three-year old rainbow trout, averaging 18-22 inches) were also stocked. Broodstock trout were mixed in with each truckload of fish to provide exciting fishing opportunities throughout the state.

A schedule was not posted prior to stocking. Waterbodies stocked were noted below at the end of the day they are stocked. This was to prevent crowds gathering at popular stocking points, making social distancing difficult. All fall-stocked waters may be fished as soon as they are stocked (there are no "closed waters" during fall stocking).

The stocking boundaries for streams are the same as in the spring (see the current Freshwater Digest for information).

Updates to the fall stocking program are posted as necessary.

See the Fall Trout Fishing Information page for details about this season's stocking.
