DEER CHECK STATION CLOSURES/ADDITIONS
IN CENTRAL & SOUTH JERSEY

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife announces important deer check station closures and additions in Atlantic, Burlington, Middlesex, Ocean and Salem counties for the 2000-2001 deer seasons. Hunters are reminded that they should check in their deer at the station closest to the harvest location.

Union Hill Campground located at the junction of Chatsworth and Leekstown roads in New Gretna, Burlington County will no longer check deer. Instead, hunters may take their deer to the Green Bank Inn on Rt. 542 in Green Bank, Scott's Bait and Tackle on Radio Road in Mystic Island (Ocean County) or the Port Store on Clark's Landing Road in Port Republic (Atlantic County) during all six of the deer seasons.

George's Garage and Towing, located at 2681 Rt. 130 in Cranbury, Middlesex County will no longer check deer. Instead, hunters may take their deer to All Season's Sports & Taxidermy, 1938 Rt. 527 in Jamesburg, Sayreville Sportsman at 52 Washington Rd. in Sayreville or Millstone Sports Shop at 20 North River St. in Millstone (Somerset County) during all six of the deer seasons.

The Wagon Wheel Restaurant, located on Rt. 206 in Hammonton, Atlantic County, Tip's Hardware, located at 218 West Main St. (Rt. 9) in West Creek, Ocean County and Bradway's Farm Market, located on Rt. 49 in Quinton, Salem County have been designated as deer checking stations beginning September 30, 2000 and will check in deer during all six of the deer seasons.

In addition, hunters should note that Murphy's Hook House, located at 2308 Rt. 37 in Toms River, Ocean County will be open to check in deer for all six deer seasons. The New Jersey Fish and Wildlife Digest stated in error that deer would be checked in only until December 9, 2000.
