According to the Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife, pre-season trout stocking in New Jersey waters is occurring as originally scheduled with the exception of two reservoirs in the northern part of the State.

"Trout anglers in New Jersey can breathe a sigh of relief as stocking efforts are occurring pretty much as planned with only a few exceptions," said Division Director Bob McDowell. "The Division is carefully monitoring water conditions and will make stocking decisions on a weekly basis. Any changes that occur will be publicized on our website and through the media."

Exceptions include the Clinton and Canistear reservoirs that are usually stocked with trout, but are now too low to allow trout fishing. Possible exceptions include two rivers, the Wanaque and the Manasquan, that may be impacted due to their location downstream of water supply reservoirs. In addition, one stocking point on the Manasquan Reservoir may not be stocked.

To date, all South Jersey waters have been stocked as well as Lake Hopatcong in Morris County. Currently this week, all North Jersey waters and large streams are in the process of being stocked. Smaller streams are scheduled for stocking next week and no cancellations are scheduled at this time.
