Striped Bass Bonus Program Update
August 10, 2004
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and
Wildlife wants striped bass anglers to make note of a recent modification to the
Striped Bass Bonus Program.
At this time, the Division is not issuing or replacing 2004 Bonus Cards pending
passage of legislation that will establish new striped bass management measures
for the remainder of 2004.
This conservative strategy is necessary to ensure that New Jersey complies
with the mandates of the Atlantic
States Marine Fisheries Commission concerning the Striped Bass Bonus Program
because there is the potential to over-harvest the bonus quota.
Striped bass bonus cards for the 2004 season will be re-evaluated after the
legislation is passed. At that time, the Division will review this decision and
revise the program, if necessary.
