TURKEY CHECK STATION ADDITIONS/CHANGES FOR SPRING 2004

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Fish and Wildlife announces important turkey check station additions and changes for the 2004 Spring Wild Turkey Hunting Season. Hunters are reminded that they should check their gobbler at the station closest to the harvest location.

This year, six businesses have become new turkey check stations in the state. Some of these stores became check stations recently and as a result, were not included in the 2004 New Jersey Wild Turkey Hunting Season Information and Permit Application booklet.

The new locations are: J & J Archery (formerly Buck & Bass), Route 15 and Weldon Road, Jefferson Township (Morris County); Swartswood Country Store, 911 Newton-Swartswood Road, Stillwater (Sussex County); Columbia Sport Shop (formerly W.A.G.), Route 46 and Walnut Road, Columbia (Warren County); Millstone Sport Shop, 20 North River Street, Millstone (Somerset County); Sportsman’s Outpost, Fries Mill Road, Williamstown (Gloucester County); and Big Daddy’s Sports Haven, 595 Sherman Avenue, Millville (Cumberland County).

In addition to these new check stations, hunters should note the following changes. Mastodon Sport Shop (Sussex County) has moved from 34 Highland Lakes Road to 195 Highland Lakes Road in Vernon Township and two businesses listed in the 2004 Turkey Information booklet will no longer be checking turkeys: Maurice River Sports Center and Van Meter Archery Company of Cumberland County.
