Opening of Application Period Delayed for Fall Turkey
and Special Area Deer Permit Lotteries

The application period for both the 2007 Fall Turkey Season and the 2007 Special Area Deer Permit Season has been delayed. The application period was previously scheduled to open on August 1. The new application period will be from August 9, 2007 until September 9, 2007.
Fall Turkey Permit Applications and Special Area Deer Permit Applications can be submitted beginning on Thursday, August 9, 2007. Applicants have until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, September 9 to submit their applications. Applications can be made at license agents (please check agent's hours of operation) or via the DFW's Internet license sales site.
Fall Turkey Permits
Fall Turkey Permits will be available for Turkey Hunting Areas 1 - 11, 20 and 21. There is only one hunting period for the fall turkey season, which is Monday, October 29 - Saturday, November 3. See the Turkey Hunting Booklet (pdf, 260kb) for further information.
Special Area Deer Permits
Special Area Deer Permits are available for the following areas:
- 37 (Fort Dix)
- 38 (Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge)
- 56, 57, 58 and 70 (Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge)
- 61 (Atlantic County Park System)
- 64 (Monmouth Battlefield State Park)
Both Fall Turkey Permit lottery applicants and Special Area Deer Permit lottery applicants will receive award notifications and be able to claim permits won in the lotteries beginning sometime during the week of September 24. All permits awarded in both lotteries will be held in reserve until claimed or the season ends.
Non-lottery Deer Permits/Leftover Turkey and Deer Lottery Permits
Over the counter sales of non-lottery zone deer permits, as well as leftover turkey and Special Area deer permits, will begin on October 9 at 10:00 a.m. and end when the season is over or until all leftover permits have been sold.
The following deer management zones have permit quotas that far exceed hunter demand and therefore are not included in the deer lottery: Zones 1-19, 21-31, 34-36, 41-43, 45-51, 55, 63, 65, 67 and 68. These permits will also be available for purchase beginning on October 9 at 10:00 a.m. at license agents and via the DFW's Internet license sales site. Permits will be available on a first come, first served basis. In the unlikely event that sales reach the permit quota for a specific zone and season combination, those permit sales will end.
