Horseshoe Crab Harvest Moratorium

A continuation of the moratorium on the harvest of horseshoe crabs has been proposed by the NJ DEP's Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) to aid in preventing further declines of red knots and to promote their recovery.

NOTE: There will be a special meeting of the Marine Fisheries Council on February 11, 2008, regarding this issue.
