NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife Endangered and Nongame Species Program biologist Kris Schantz was recently honored by the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey with the Women & Wildlife Inspiration Award. The award recognized Kris for her passion for developing greater understanding of the state endangered Timber Rattlesnake while helping improve its protection. The award was presented at the 12th annual Women & Wildlife Awards dinner at Duke Farms in Hillsborough.
One notable accomplishment is her development of the Venomous Snake Response Team, a program that serves the public by safely removing venomous snakes from areas where they may pose a risk.
