The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is advising fishermen and other mariners that survey activities for the Empire Wind Project in the New York Bight are expected to continue through the end of October, subject to weather and other factors. The surveys are being conducted by a company commissioned by the lease holders of the New York offshore wind energy area, Equinor.
Two vessels are equipped with hull mounted and towed equipment for geophysical data collection, along with additional equipment to be deployed at specific locations to sample the seabed for geotechnical and benthic sampling. Drop down camera and video equipment will also be used as part of the survey activities.
