The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife will be holding its annual trout stocking meeting at the Pequest Trout Hatchery on Saturday, March 3, at 10:00 a.m. This important meeting provides an excellent opportunity for anglers to ask questions, voice their opinions, and give suggestions regarding New Jersey's trout stocking program.
Hatchery Superintendent Ed Conley will present information on current production at the hatchery. Senior Fisheries Biologist Ross Shramko will be presenting highlights of his Trout-Stocked Movement Study, conducted on the Catch & Release section of the Flat Brook in 2017, in addition to allocation changes for individual waters and this year's Bonus Broodstock lakes.
A comment period at the end of the program will be held so everyone in attendance has the chance to engage in meaningful discussion and ask questions of the biologists and fish culture staff present. Additional fisheries staff will be on hand for great one-on-one discussions before and after the meeting.
A handout of this year's weekly allocation schedule will be provided to all attendees.
The Pequest Trout Hatchery is located on Rt. 46 approximately nine miles west of Hackettstown in Warren County.
