October xx, 2020
New Jersey's second 2020 Free Fishing Day is Saturday, October 17. No license or trout stamp is required that day, and anglers young and old can take advantage of great fall fishing. Fall trout stocking has just concluded and plenty of large (14"-18") fish are still available in the 40 ponds and streams stocked.
But trout aren't the only fish available. Panfish, walleye, salmon, pike and more are found in waters throughout the state. In addition to the trout raised at Pequest, warmwater and coolwater fish raised at the Hackettstown Hatchery provide a range of fishing opportunities. To see what Hackettstown fish are found where, see the Stocking Summaries.
Free Fishing Day is also when the Youth Fishing Challenge, a free statewide event, is held. Participants may be eligible to receive prizes for the fish they catch during the event.
Don't miss out - take advantage of Free Fishing Day to introduce, or reintroduce, a friend or family member to the many joys of fishing!
