A public forum to discuss freshwater fisheries research, management and recreational angling in New Jersey will be held on Saturday, January 18 at the Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery in Warren County. The forum will begin at 10:00 a.m. A second forum will be held February 22 at Batsto Village in Wharton State Forest.
The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife holds forums to improve communication with the angling public and to solicit public input in shaping freshwater fisheries programs in the future. The forums are a perfect opportunity for all freshwater anglers to learn about existing programs and to share their views and recommendations.
This year's presentation topics include this year Harmful Algal Blooms and Fish Health. Discussion topics include: Warmwater Fisheries Management Plan (what do anglers want to see covered in the plan) and Potential Regulation Changes for 2023 - so anglers should bring their ideas on both these topics.
As always, there will be ample time for open discussion with professional staff to answer any questions or address concerns of anglers during the extended question and answer period. There is also time for one on one discussions with Division fisheries biologists following the meeting.
