According to the New Jersey Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife, the mail-in lottery system for issuing special deer hunting permits was extremely successful this year. As a result, there are a limited number of firearm permits available for over-the-counter sales on Sunday, November 14.
"Nearly every applicant was successful in getting a shotgun or muzzleloader permit for their first choice in the first lottery," said Division Director Bob McDowell. Also, this is the second year that over-the-counter sales will take place on Sunday, so that hunters will not lose any recreational opportunities on Saturday."
The Division of Fish, Game, and Wildlife will sell the remaining permits on a first come, first served basis. Shotgun and muzzleloader permits are available for the following zones: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 26, 27, 28, 29, 33, 34, 35, 36, 38, 41, 42, 43, 45, 46, 49, 50, 51, 55, 57, 58, 61, 63 and 65. Muzzleloader permits only are available for Zone 67. These permits will be sold only at the Northern Region Office in Hampton, Hunterdon County. Shotgun permits only are available for zones: 52, 53, 59, 60 and 66. Shotgun and muzzleloader permits for zones: 57, 58 and 61 will be sold only at the Nacote Creek Research Station in Port Republic, Atlantic County.
Please note that there are less than 20 shotgun permits available in zones 45 and 58. There are less than 20 muzzleloader permits for zones: 45, 57, 58 and 61.
There are less than 10 permits remaining in the following zones and they will be sold at the office closest to that zone. Zone 53 shotgun permits will be sold only at the Assunpink WMA. Zone 57 shotgun permits will be sold only at the Nacote Creek Research Station.
Permits will be sold from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Sunday, November 14, at the following Division offices:
Anyone interested in purchasing a shotgun and/or muzzleloader permit must bring their 1999 firearm hunting license and cash or check for $21.75. It is not necessary for a hunter to appear in person, however, the individual buying the permit must have the hunter's license and the necessary fee. Photocopies will NOT be accepted. Please note that a hunter on line is limited to purchasing permits for a total of three individuals.
