To help celebrate Fish and Wildlife Conservation Week in New Jersey please help introduce a young hunter to the exciting sport of waterfowl hunting by taking the time to treat a child, younger relative, son/daughter of a co-worker or perhaps one of their child’s friends to a day of waterfowl hunting in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere.

Hunting hours are 1/2 hour before sunrise to sunset.

Open to young, licensed hunters aged 10-15. Each participant must be accompanied by a non-shooting, licensed adult (aged 18 or older).

The season is open for ducks only, EXCEPT that Canada geese may be taken if the youth possesses a Special September Season Permit. Snow geese and Atlantic brant are closed to hunting on this day.

Youths may hunt on public lands and waters or private lands/waters with permission.

Participants need not possess federal or state duck stamps during this hunt.

The bag limit is 4 ducks which may not include more than 2 wood ducks, 2 hen mallards, 2 pintails, 2 redheads, 1 canvasback and 1 black duck. In addition, a bonus of 2 green-winged or blue-winged teal may be taken singly or in aggregate. Note: With a Special September Season Canada Goose Permit, the daily bag limit is 5 geese.
