PHOTO RELEASE: Commissioner Highlights $1.6 million Increase in Newborn Screening Program
During the annual meeting of the Central Jersey Family Health Consortium (CJFHC) in Monroe, Health Commissioner Mary E. O'Dowd highlighted a $1.6 million increase in the proposed state budget for the Department's Newborn Screening program, a $25 million program which tests more than 100,000 babies born in New Jersey each year for more than 50 life-threatening disorders. The gathering was attended by 200 doctors, nurses and maternal and child health professionals.
