Media Advisory - Commissioner of Health Mary E. O’Dowd to Host Mold Presentation for Residents/Business Owners of Union Beach

Tomorrow, Commissioner of Health Mary O'Dowd will give an overview on mold awareness, assessment and removal to the residents and business owners in Union Beach, New Jersey.  Commissioner O'Dowd will also answer questions about mold from residents that attend the presentation.   The Commissioner will be joined by Joe Eldridge, the Director of Consumer, Environmental and Occupational Health Service for the Department.

Union Beach was particularly hard hit by Sandy with 1,400 of the town's homes being flooded.

Tips for cleaning Mold Include:

  • Wear rubber boots, rubber gloves, goggles and a mask
  • Open windows and doors to get fresh air when you use cleaning products
  • Never mix bleach with ammonia or other cleaners
