Department of Health Proposes New Rules at N.J.A.C. 8:53, to Establish Registration Standards for Telemedicine and Telehealth Organizations

The New Jersey Department of Health’s Certificate of Need and Healthcare Facility Licensure program is proposing new rules at N.J.A.C. 8:53, which would implement the registration requirements set out at P.L. 2017, c. 117, codified at N.J.S.A. 45:1-61 et seq. (Act).

The Act requires that all telemedicine and telehealth organizations operating in New Jersey register annually with the Department before providing services. The proposed new rules would implement the requirement by establishing the registration procedures and the enforcement measures the Department may take against organizations that operate in New Jersey without registering.

The proposal appears in the April 20, 2020 issue of the New Jersey Register.  The public will have until June 19, 2020, to comment on the proposal.

Persons wishing to comment on the proposal must submit written comments either (1) electronically by June 19, 2020, to http://www.nj.gov/health/legal/ecomments.shtml or (2) by regular mail postmarked on or before June 19, 2020, to Joy L. Lindo, Director, Office of Legal and Regulatory Compliance, New Jersey Department of Health, PO Box 360, Trenton, NJ 08625-0360.
