Notice
of Proposed Rules
|
|
Date
of Proposal:
July 18, 2005
Proposal
Number:
PRN 2005-251
Proposal
Summary:
The New Jersey Division on Civil Rights
proposes to re-adopt with amendments its
rules pertaining to Discrimination on
the Basis of Disability. Certain amendments
to the existing rules concerning housing
discrimination are proposed in order for
the Division to achieve certification
as a substantially equivalent agency by
the federal Department of Housing and
Urban Development, which permits the Division
to enter into a work-sharing agreement
with HUD. Other amendments would clarify
the obligation of places of public accommodation
to provide reasonable accommodation to
patrons with disabilities and clarify
that a leave of absence from employment
is a form of reasonable accommodation
for an employee with a disability. The
proposed re-adoption with amendments appears
in the July 18, 2005 edition of the New
Jersey Register.
Summary
of Proposal:
A summary of the proposed re-adoption
with amendments is posted on the New Jersey
Division on Civil Rights Web site at:
www.NJCivilRights.org/proposed_rules.html
