NJ Attorney General Brings National Underage Drinking Program to NJ and Cliffside Park High School Following Deadly Graduation Night Accident
Attorney General Harvey Keeps His Promise to the Verea Family and Bergen County School District - National Drunk Driving and Underage Drinking Campaign Comes to NJ
>> See Directions below

Attorney General Peter Harvey will be at Cliffside Park High School tomorrow morning with Brandon Silveria and the Century Council to talk to students about drunk driving and underage drinking. Brandon was disabled after a drunk drinking incident when he was 17 years old. Silveria was hospitalized for three months and endured three years of rehabilitation following the accident. Brandon and his father tour the U.S. Despite Silveria’s permanent and visible speech and walking disabilities, Brandon delivers a compelling message to teens about the dangers of drinking and driving.

The Attorney General decided to bring Brandon and the Century Council program to New Jersey after meeting the parents of Rebeka Verea, a graduating senior from Cliffside Park High School, who was killed on graduation night 2004 when she was getting a ride home with a fellow classmate. Her family, a well know Bergen County physician and her mother, have waged a campaign to stop youth drinking and driving.

History:
The Attorney General visited Cliffside Park High School in April 2004 to talk to students about drinking and driving and a number of other youth related issues. Rebeka was in the audience for the presentation. The accident happened later that year.
