Retirement seminar on September 7, 2024.

Fall 2024

Summer is over and now we look forward to the fall weather, Halloween, Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season!!!

I hope everyone had a great summer and now kids and grandkids are back to school and the grown ups are preparing for a season of touchdowns, slam dunks, and new seasons of favorite television shows.

Just a reminder that retirement packets should be completed at the age of 59 unless you have early retirement which means a deployment after January 2008.

You can call me for an appointment which is usually on a Wednesday or Thursday at the Bordentown Armory. I can also see Retirees on Monday or Tuesday at JFHQs on Fort Dix.

If you have any questions or concerns or need assistance with paperwork, please feel free to call me at 609-500-4327 or email me at marie.s.durling.civ@army.mil.

Notes from the Field

Stories? Do I Have Stories!

Retirement at Age 88

In April 2024, I had a call from a former Soldier who asked me for his records to get a VA Loan. I called State Archives and they sent me all his records.

I saw that his NGB 22 had 22 years of service so I told him he should have his records because he is collecting his pension.

He said “what pension?”

So I took the pencil copies that were sent to me and I built him an RPAM, did a 20 year letter and I filled out his retirement packet and sent it to him to review and sign. I sent it to HRC for processing and this Retiree received his retirement orders in May 2024. He was so honored to finally get his orders and his first pension check. He will also receive six years of back pay.

Please remind Retirees that you apply for your pension before the age of 60 not 65.

You are also eligible for Tricare at the age of 60 for less that $750.00 a year for your family and at the age of 65, if you have

Medicare A & B, Tricare is free and you are in the Tricare for Life program.
