NOTE : Effective September 13, 2022, the required Course of Instruction in the lawful safe handling and storage of firearms is integrated into the application process for all INTIAL Firearms Purchaser Identification Cards.

You MUST USE the ORI NUMBER assigned to that SPECIFIC POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Please contact YOUR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT for procedures and to verify
their SPECIFIC ORI.

Apply to the New Jersey State Police (NJSP)
If you are certain you reside in a New Jersey State Police (NJSP) covered area, identify which NJSP Station you need to apply to and utilize the correct ORI Number, Click here for the list. If you are not certain, contact the NJSP station to obtain the proper ORI before applying.
