PVSC recently hosted Imani Brown, a student a Neptune High School in Monmouth County, for a visit to our Laboratory. Imani participates in extracurricular Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (“STEM”) enrichment programs at STEAMpark, a Monmouth County-based, nonprofit organization that provides free educational workshops for children living in low-income communities.  PVSC’s primary objectives in hosting Imani was to showcase various careers within a Lab, raise awareness of the important role Labs play in society, and  educate on Lab procedures and responsibilities. Our Chemists and Lab Technicians demonstrated to Imani what transpires in the Lab on a daily basis. She observed several wastewater analyses and had the hands-on opportunity to perform some of the analyses herself.
