Governor's Fellows Program

The Governor's Fellows Program helps to build capacity in executive branch departments by attracting recent graduates and early career professionals interested in specialized policy areas, such as youth mental health, homelessness prevention, and AI equity. Governor’s Fellows  have a commitment of one-year of employment within their specific state agency and will serve under the supervision of dedicated career staff with invaluable institutional knowledge. At the end of the fellowship, these employees will be considered for long-term employment by the host department. The Governor’s Office  provides mentorship and networking opportunities to Fellows, who begin their state government career with support from the Governor’s Office as well as the State Civil Service Commission.

Eligibility for the Governor’s Fellows Program is based on several qualifications, including effective communication and teamwork skills, established excellence in professional or academic achievement, proven leadership ability, and a demonstrated commitment to public policy.

Applications for the 2024-2025 fellowship year are open now until June 14, 2024. Interviews are set to take place during the summer by the individual hiring agencies. Fellowships will begin in September 2024.
