Jersey Seafood Challenge
New
Jersey professional chefs will have an opportunity to prove
they are the premier seafood chef in the Garden State during
the Jersey Seafood Challenge competition on Tuesday,
January 15, 2008.
The
event, to be held at Atlantic Cape Community College in
Mays Landing, asks chefs to showcase their culinary skills
by preparing their signature dish focusing on Jersey Seafood.
In addition, each competitor will be asked to create a “Down
the Shore” Jersey seafood platter, a recipe showcasing
how easy it is for home cooks to prepare seafood for their
families.
The
Jersey Seafood Challenge champion will represent the state
in the Great American Seafood Cook-off in New Orleans in
August 2008. The seafood challenge is being coordinated
by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Garden State
Seafood Association, Slow Food-New Jersey, Eat-Drink New
Jersey, New Jersey Restaurant Association, Rutgers Cooperative
Extension, New Jersey Chapters of the American Culinary
Federation, New Jersey Sea Grant, and New Jersey Marine
Sciences Consortium.
