Joins Recent Promotions of Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director

Trenton, N.J.—New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) President Joseph L. Fiordaliso recently announced his appointment of Taryn Boland as the new Chief of Staff, effective November 1, 2021.  Ms. Boland, who served as Deputy Chief of Staff, replaces Christine Sadovy, who departed NJBPU to serve as Governor Phil Murphy’s Cabinet Secretary.

 

“I am pleased that Taryn has accepted the position of Chief of Staff at the BPU,” said Fiordaliso. “I know that she will continue to do an excellent job in her new role, especially after having worked under the tutelage of Christine Sadovy.”

 

Ms. Boland has more than 20 years of experience in public service and the non-profit sector. In her new role, she will work closely with President Fiordaliso to carry out NJBPU’s policy initiatives in addition to overseeing all administrative matters of NJBPU.  Prior to joining NJBPU, Ms. Boland worked with the Corporation for Supportive Housing and the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency.  She holds a master’s degree in Public Affairs and Politics from the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers the State University of New Jersey, and a bachelor’s degree in Government and Law from Lafayette College. 

 

“I am honored for the opportunity to continue working alongside President Fiordaliso in this new role as we work to implement Governor Murphy’s clean energy goals and deliver on the mission of the NJBPU,” said Ms. Boland. “We are at a critical moment in addressing both the impacts of climate change and the pandemic, and I look forward to meeting these challenges head on with thoughtful policy that benefits all New Jerseyans.”

 

In addition to the promotion of Ms. Boland, President Fiordaliso recently promoted NJBPU staff to leadership roles on his Senior Staff.  Robert Brabston, Esq. was recently named Executive Director of NJBPU and Stacy Peterson as Deputy Executive Director. 

 

President Fiordaliso said, “Bob and Stacy bring extraordinary experience in utilities to their current roles and provide valuable insight into our work at NJBPU. The scope of our work touches the lives of every New Jerseyan and it takes the hard work of dedicated individuals to ensure we live up to that responsibility. Taryn, Bob and Stacy are integral to NJBPU on behalf of ratepayers across New Jersey.” 

 

Mr. Brabston leads and manages the technical divisions of NJBPU (Audits, Clean Energy, Energy, Reliability and Security, State Energy Services, and Water) as well as the Office of Cable Television & Telecommunications. As Executive Director, Bob provides policy guidance and direction to the technical divisions and translates the decision-making and policy development of the BPU into operational activities.

 

Prior to joining NJBPU, Bob was Vice President and General Counsel for American Water’s Eastern Division. He has also held leadership positions at the New Jersey Public Advocate and Division of Rate Counsel (formerly the Division of the Ratepayer Advocate).  Bob received his law degree from Pace University School of Law, with a Certificate in International Law and a concentration in Environmental Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Peace Studies from Colgate University. He is currently licensed to practice law in New Jersey.

 

Bob previously served on the Board of Directors of the NJ State Chamber of Commerce and the Executive Committee of the Board of the NJ Utilities Association. He is a former Chair of the Public Utilities Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and is a member of the American and New Jersey Bar Associations.

 

Prior to her promotion to Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Peterson was previously the Director of the Energy Division of NJBPU and has been involved in a wide range of matters including rate cases, mergers, and energy efficiency policy.  In her current position, Stacy’s role has been expanded to include oversight of the activities of the Office of Cable Television and Telecommunications and the Divisions of Audits, Clean Energy, Energy, Reliability and Security, State Energy Services and Water. Stacy graduated from Clemson University with a degree in accounting and has worked for NJBPU since 2003.
